The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is scheduled to convene a special session in New York today to address the ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza, specifically focusing on reconstruction efforts in the region.

Members of the Security Council will receive a briefing from the United Nations Coordinator For Humanitarian Affairs And Reconstruction in Gaza Sigrid Kaag.

The briefing is in accordance with resolution 2720, adopted on December 22, last year.

Recently, Sigrid Kaag held discussions in Washington with U.S. Secretary Of State Antony Blinken regarding the Gaza situation.
