Analyst hails PM’s decision to pay Iran-Turkiye visit
July 02, 2026

Amb. AM Shahid (Former Diplomat):  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is going to pay a very crucial and important visit to Iran and Turkiye. I Pakistan has been close to both the brotherly countries Iran-Turkiye.  I am very much convinced about the timing of this visit in the background of prevailing regional and international situation. Hopefully, Prime Minister’s visit to Iran is going to be crucial and more than expression of condolences and participation in the funeral prayer of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.  Prime Minister will definitely be discussing bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran with Iranian leadership. Pakistan has helped Iran and US to conclude peace deal. PM may be focusing on bilateral trade and regional issues in talks with Iranian leadership. PM may also take up issues of establishment of special economic zones with Iran. Our government is determined to bring more and more FDI to Pakistan. Therefore PM’s meetings with Turkish and Iranian leadership will further accelerate bilateral cooperation in economic, privatization and AI sectors. Government is putting all efforts to uplift economy because economy is backbone of our national economic life.
