Speakers at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva have called for the protection of human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Participating in the ongoing 63rd session of the Council, they expressed grave concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in the territory.

They urged UN mechanisms to ensure that all policies in the territory comply with international human rights law, particularly with regard to women and children.

They also called upon the international community to address the systemic issues of land dispossession, socio-economic marginalisation and psychological trauma affecting the Kashmiri people.
