Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights Lal Chand Malhi says the government is taking practical steps to safeguard human rights of all people in the country and a number of laws have been enacted during the last three years.
In an exclusive interview with News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan, he said the focus of the government is on vulnerable groups including minorities, women and children.
Lal Chand Malhi said Journalists Protection Act is also a major achievement of the government to protect rights of journalists and media workers.
In reply to a question, he said the incumbent government has established a legal aid and justice authority to provide legal assistance to deserving people in criminal cases.
He said the people can access the helpline 1099 for immediate help, guidance and legal aid while ZARA App has also been launched to initiate alert of missing children.
