The United Nations has said drought and a rain deficit is pushing more than over two million people in Somalia toward the crisis level of acute food insecurity.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs a serious gap in relief funding remains for the humanitarian operation in the country as the 2021 Somalia Humanitarian Response Plan requires 1.09 billion U.S. dollars to assist 4 million people.
