The Martyrs Day was observed for the fourth consecutive year on the death anniversary of Shaheed Safwat Ghayur, the commandant of Frontier Constabulary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police who was martyred in a suicide attack on his vehicle on 4th August, 2010.

Special functions were held across the country to appreciate sacrifices of police force for establishing peace.

President Dr. Arif Alvi says the whole nation is indebted to martyrs who laid down their lives for security of the country and the nation.

In a message on Police Martyrs Day, the President paid rich tributes to unmatched sacrifices of police officers and personnel.

He said despite difficult situation and limited resources, the police has played an exemplary role in establishment of peace and protecting the lives of people.

He said our security forces are successfully taking on the enemy and such elements will be eradicated soon.

In a statement on Police Martyrs Day, Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmad Shah said sacrifices of the nation's martyrs are testimony to the fact that Pakistan is in safe hands.

He said police is always ready to lay down their lives for dignity and survival of the country.

Paying rich tributes to the vigilance of police, the Interior Minister said the force has dispensed its duties efficiently, despite lack of resources and other issues.

He offered prayers for high place of all martyrs in heaven.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in his message on Police Martyrs Day said blood of martyrs is an important component in struggle for peace and security.

He said the nation pays rich tribute to the sacrifices of their martyrs.

The Minister said police and security forces are working day and night against anti-state elements

LAHORE

A number of events were held in connection with Police Martyrs Day in Lahore today to pay tribute to the police martyres.

Quran Khawani was held at Jamia Masjid Police Lines, Qilla Gujjar Singh this morning in which a large number of policemen participated. Special prayers were offered on the occasion for peace, solidarity and prosperity of the country.

Capital City Police Officer Lahore B.A Nasir laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada on Mall road and offered fateha.

Meanwhile in his message on Police Martyrs Day, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said the nation will always remember sacrifices of police martyrs who laid down their lives for peace in the country.

He said the police martyrs are real heroes of the nation and government will continue to support their families.

KARACHI

Special ceremonies are also being held in Karachi and other parts of Sindh in connection with Police Martyrs Day, to acknowledge sacrifices of the brave police officers and jawans and express solidarity with their families.

PESHAWAR

A ceremony in connection with police martyrs’ day was held at the grave of Shaheed Sifwat Ghayour in Peshawar on Sunday.

SSP Operations Peshawar Zahoor Babar Afridi laid floral wreath at the grave of former Commandant Frontier Constabulary Shaheed Sifwat Ghayur.

City Police Peshawar organized a peace walk to pay tributes to officers and jawans of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police who laid down their lives while protecting their motherland. Fatiha khwani was also offered for shuhada on the occasion.

Meanwhile in a message, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan paid rich tribute to police officers and jawans who embraced martyrdom in the war against terror.

He hoped that Police will continue to protect citizens of the province at every cost.

QUETTA

Addressing a ceremony in connection with Police Martyrs Day in Quetta on Sunday, Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan said martyrs are the precious asset of the nation.

He paid rich tributes to the bereaved families of martyrs who rendered great sacrifices for the sake of restoration of peace in the province.

The Governor expressed the hope that Balochistan government would keep on providing funds and other privileges to police force to further improve its professional performance.

He also expressed the determination to jointly combat the terrorists to foil their nefarious designs.

Besides others, the ceremony was attended by Inspector General Police Balochistan Mohsin Hassan Butt and bereaved families of martyrs.

Meanwhile, in a message, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal Khan said peace in the province has been restored as a result of matchless sacrifices of the brave police personnel and other law enforcement agencies.
