President of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum and Chairman of Kashmir Global Coalition, Ghulam Nabi Mir says India is carrying out a genocidal and ethnic cleansing plan in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the annual Convention of Islamic Society of North American in Chicago, he said Jammu and Kashmir, which India unilaterally and illegally annexed in August 2019, has now turned into ‘a full-fledged settler-colonial project’; similar to Israel’s in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Ghulam Nabi Mir said under the new Domicile Law, 4.2 million Indian Hindus have been issued domicile certificates to demographically flood Kashmir with non-Kashmiri Indian settlers to dilute the Muslim population.

He said the Hindu nationalist BJP wants to change the demographic character of the Muslim-majority region by allowing non-Kashmiris to buy land there.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai said Palestinians and Kashmiris should be provided an opportunity to decide whatever they want without any external pressure or compulsion.

He said the denial of right to self-determination to the people of Palestine and Kashmir is a clear danger to international peace and security.
