Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said socio-economic empowerment of the women is the foremost priority of the government.

Addressing a function in Islamabad on Friday, she said a mechanism has been evolved to ensure the implementation of relevant law at the grassroots level.

The Special Assistant said Islam gives great importance to the rights of women and the government is determined to ensure the protection of their rights.
