The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has approved the Hajj Policy for 2023.
The ECC gave its approval in its meeting held in Islamabad on Monday, with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair.
The ECC agreed to provide foreign exchange cover of 90 million dollars for Hajj.
Hajj quota allocated to Pakistan for the year 2023 is 179,210, which shall be distributed between the Government and Private Hajj Schemes at the ratio of 50:50.
For the year 2023, tentative Hajj Package for Northern region is 1,175,000 rupees and for South Region 1,165,000 rupees.
The ECC also approved Technical Supplementary Grant of 12 billion rupees in favour of Planning Commission for conduct of 7th Population & Housing Census. It also approved 3,244 Million rupees in favour of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety for National Poverty Graduation Programme.
The Committee deferred a summary presented by Ministry of National Food Security & Research on Urea Fertilizer requirement for year 2023.
The ECC also deferred another summary submitted by Ministry of Industries and Production on Solar Panel & Allied Equipment Manufacturing Policy-2023.
Earlier, Ishaq Dar assured Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor to provide maximum facilitation to Hujjaj in order to make Hajj event blessed and peaceful.
