Kashmiris observed Jammu Martyrs' Day in Kashmir, world over
November 06, 2024

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world observed Jammu Martyrs’ Day today to honor the memory of the tens of thousands of Muslims who were brutally massacred in Jammu in November 1947.

This day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the martyrs and reinforces the Kashmiri people’s commitment to their struggle for the right to self-determination.

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims were martyred by Dogra forces, the Indian Army, and Hindu extremists while attempting to migrate to Pakistan in November, 1947.

This massacre, which is considered one of the first major cases of ethnic cleansing after World War II, aimed to alter the demographics of Jammu and Kashmir by eliminating the Muslim population in the Jammu region.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan, a series of events including demonstrations, seminars, and special prayer meetings have been organized to pay homage to the Jammu martyrs.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the 1947 Jammu massacre on their anniversary, reiterating that the Kashmiri people remain committed to achieving the martyrs’ mission.

In their separate messages from India’s Tihar Jail, APHC Chairman Massarat Alam Butt and Shabbir Ahmed Shah affirmed that the unparalleled sacrifices of the Jammu martyrs remain deeply honored by the Kashmiri people.

They urged the international community to act to prevent further bloodshed in Kashmir.

Meanwhile, in AJK the day dawned with special prayers in mosques for integrity and prosperity of Pakistan, AJK, and the early liberation of illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by Indian.

Rallies, demonstrations, and protest gatherings were held in all small and big cities of the state under the auspices of the Kashmir Liberation Cell, Hurriyat and religious organizations.

In the state capital Muzaffarabad, a seminar and rally were organized by Pasban Hurriyat Jammu Kashmir to pay homage to the martyrs of Jammu.

A large number of citizens and leaders of various political and religious parties participated in the seminar followed by a rally.

The speakers demanded the United Nations, the international community, and human rights organizations to bring the Indian rulers and terrorist organizations to justice for massacre of Jammu and killing of over one hundred thousand civilians after 1989.
