Russia says it has sent thirty new tanks at its military base in Tajikistan while forces have carried out exercises with missile defence systems over Moscow's concern about turmoil in Afghanistan.

In a statement, Defence Ministry said the forces used S-300 PS systems and simulated 10 missile launches against aerial targets as part of the drills.
