Kashmiris observed 8th martyrdom anniversary Burhan Wani

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observe 8th martyrdom anniversary of popular youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani on Monday.

Burhan Wani is an icon and shining star of Kashmir’s history who will always be remembered as a symbol of resistance and resilience. Kashmiri people consider him as a benefactor, savior and hero, as he represented his oppressed nation with great courage and sacrificed his life for the sacred cause of freedom from Indian slavery.

Every year on the anniversary of this great martyr, the Kashmiri nation renews its pledge to fulfill the great mission for which Burhan Wani and more than 600,000 Kashmiris sacrificed their precious lives since 1947 till date.

He was martyred by Indian brutal forces during a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir on this day in 2016.

The day was observed as Resistance Day across Azad Kashmir.

Protest rallies, public gatherings and seminars are being held in all districts under auspices of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission, Pasban-e-Hurriyat, other Hurriyat organizations and political parties to pay homage to the popular youth leader, Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani, and his associates.

In Muzaffarabad, an organized troop of 313 Kashmiri youths saluted Burhan Wani Shaheed, Martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir and national flags at Azim Nabubat Chowk. 

Kashmiri youths were holding flags of Pakistan and Kashmir. 

The national anthems of both Pakistan and AJK were played.

The youth raised slogans like "Kashmiri youth will take freedom from India", "This war is war of freedom", "Burhan your blood brought revolution", "Pakistan se rishta kya La Ilaha Illa Allah".

The speakers said that India can never succeed in crushing struggle of Kashmiri people.

Meanwhile, Indian troops, in their continued acts of state terrorism, have martyred 1,934 Kashmiris, including 286 in fake encounters and custody, since the extrajudicial killing of popular youth leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani on July 8, 2016, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
