Analysts highlight role of religious scholars in nation building, promotion of peace and harmony
August 08, 2024

Dr. Muhammad Khan (IR Expert): The National Ulema and Mashaikh Convention held in Islamabad today was much needed as the Ullema can play an important role in uniting the masses. The Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff urged the religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought to preach the message of peace and brotherhood. It is unfortunate that the international world links Muslims with the terrorism. But the fact is that the terrorists have no religion as Islam is a religion of peace and harmony. We as Muslim have no doubt that the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the last messenger of Allah Almighty and anyone questioning this fact can never be a Muslim. Moreover, murder or attempt to murder is not the preaching of our religion. However, the crux of this conference is to send a loud and clear message to the elements trying to use the religion in nefarious acts that what are teachings of Islam and what is the ideology of Pakistan. Pakistan is over and above everybody despite any political affiliation.

Pir Mazhar Saeed Shah (Religious Scholar): It is good development that an important National Ulema and Mashaikh Convention was held and such conventions should be conducted at regular intervals. The Prime Minister and COAS in their speeches highlighted important points. It is good news that Pakistan is installing a national firewall to filter and block propaganda and unwanted content online, enhance its capacity to protect digital data from hackers and ensure cyber-security. We always stand with our security forces in order to deal with internal and external challenges.
