Punjab Cabinet approves 'Roshan Gharana' program

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over the 11th meeting of the provincial cabinet in Lahore today.

During the meeting, the cabinet praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for setting the price of flour for the first time.

Addressing the cabinet, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted her plans to introduce a solar system for approximately 4.5 million consumers who use up to 500 units.

She expressed concern over the public unrest caused by rising electricity bills and tasked her team with finding a solution to this issue.

She also informed the cabinet that Punjab's socioeconomic registry is set to begin its operations.

The Chief Minister emphasized that controlling flour prices without procuring wheat is a challenging task and stressed the importance of monitoring and implementation to maintain affordable prices.

She instructed the Food Minister to dedicate maximum time to ensuring that essential food items remain affordable.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif commended the performance of the Food Minister, saying that in just four months, Punjab's young cabinet has demonstrated excellent results.

Besides other approvals the meeting also approved the services of the University of Health Sciences for conducting MDCAT 2024.

New methods for the appointment and posting of Divisional Directors of Education (Colleges) and principals in government colleges were also approved.

The meeting also approved the abolition of the two-year Pharmacy Assistant course (Pharmacy Apprentices Registration) under the Pharmacy Act 1967.

To ensure environmental protection, the Government of Punjab approved amendments to the Boilers and Pressure Vessels Ordinance 2002.

The meeting approved amendments to the Punjab Mining Concession Rules 2002.

The establishment of the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate in the Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs was also approved.

The meeting approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Punjab and the World Food Programme.

Amendments to the Punjab Police Deputy Superintendents and Superintendents Service Rules 2020 were approved.

The meeting approved the extension of the jurisdiction of the Walled City of Lahore Authority to the provincial level.

The meeting approved the proposed amendment to the Punjab Employees Social Security Ordinance 1965.

Conditional permission was granted for the establishment of a medical college by PESSI during the meeting.

Approval was given for the recruitment of vacant posts in the Digital Media Wing of the DGPR.
