United Nations has expressed concern over growing opium cultivation in Afghanistan.
According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) report, Afghanistan, under the control of the Taliban, has become a center for the supply of heroin on a global scale.
According to the UNODC, people linked to the opium industry are also involved in arms, people and drug trafficking.
Iran also decided to close Iran-Afghanistan border to prevent smuggling due to an increase in the production of methamphetamine in Afghanistan.
