In India, the ban imposed on hijab by the BJP-led Modi regime in schools and colleges has severely affected Muslim students' mental health and their access to education.

A report released by People's Union of Civil Liberties said under the ban Muslim students attendance in exams declined and a 50 percent decline in admission was observed while there were many more barriers placed on their path to higher education.

The report also cited testimonies of the Muslim girl students who experienced harassment, humiliation and isolation in India.
