Pakistan, Belarus to enhance collaboration across key sectors

Pakistan and Belarus have agreed on enhancing collaboration across key sectors.

The decision was taken at the 8th Session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held at Minsk, Belarus.

The meeting was co-chaired by Belarusian Minister for Energy, Aleksey Kushnarenko, and Pakistan's Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan.

During the meeting, positive and constructive discussions were held which were aimed at further strengthening the economic, commercial, and technical ties between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on labour migration issues, with a focus on improving labour mobility and protecting workers' rights. They committed to holding talks on finalizing Memorandums of Understanding to establish a framework for cooperation and create opportunities for skilled workforce exchange.

Satisfaction was expressed over the ongoing projects, including joint assembly plants for energy-efficient tractors and electric buses.

Both sides agreed to expand industrial cooperation, particularly in agricultural machinery, transportation, and industrial equipment. They also pledged to work together on healthcare and pharmaceuticals sector, seed production, livestock, veterinary medicine, and fisheries to boost food security and trade between the two nations and many other sectors.

Pakistan and Belarus also agreed to renew the cooperation agreement between the National State Television and Radio Company of Belarus and Pakistan Television Corporation, fostering exchanges in media and journalism.

The two countries also decide to work together to promote tourism by exchanging information on tourism products and inviting each other's representatives to exhibitions and tourism forums.

The meeting witnessed the participation of senior officials and diplomats from both countries, who engaged in detailed deliberations on key areas of bilateral cooperation.
