Kashmiris in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are observing Eid-ul-Fitr with their Pakistani brethren, today, in contrast to India, where the festival will be celebrated tomorrow. 

Kashmiri religious scholars including Grand Mufti Nasirul Islam, announced the observance of Eid-ul-Fitr across the occupied territory following the announcement by Pakistan's Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee about sighting the Shawwal moon, last night. 

India's Hindutva regime led by Narendra Modi in the occupied territory prohibited the Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar and other main venues in the occupied territory.

Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is also head cleric at the Jamia Masjid, was placed under house arrest to prevent him from leading the Eid prayers.

Meanwhile, jailed Hurriyat leaders including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt and senior Hurriyat leader Nayeem Ahmed Khan in their messages from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail have extended Eid greetings, expressing solidarity with Kashmiris and Palestinians facing unbearable oppression at the hands of colonial settler powers, India and Israel.

Additionally, a report released by Kashmir Media Service urged global rights bodies to pressure India for the release of Kashmiri political prisoners.
