All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders have paid glowing tribute to prominent Kashmiri leader, Shaheed-e-Azeemat Sheikh Abdul Aziz, on his 15th martyrdom anniversary to be observed tomorrow.

According to Kashmir Media Service, senior APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, in his message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail said that Sheikh Abdul Aziz championed the Kashmir cause throughout his life and even rendered the ultimate sacrifice for this purpose.

Other Hurriyat leaders have also highlighted the contribution and sacrifices of the martyred leader to the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz was martyred by Indian troops on 11th August in 2008 while he was leading a procession from Srinagar to the Line of Control against the economic blockade of the Kashmir Valley by Hindu extremists of Jammu.

On the other hand, Indian troops during the ongoing cordon and search operations and house raids arrested at least eight Kashmiri youth in different areas of Srinagar, Baramulla and Badgam districts.

Moreover, the High Court of occupied Jammu and Kashmir upheld illegal detention of Jamaat-e-Islami IIOJK Amir Dr Abdul Hameed Fayaz under black law Public Safety Act.

Meanwhile, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders and other UN experts in a joint communication said that India is misusing counter-terrorism laws and practice to disproportionately target civil society in Jammu and Kashmir.
