UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has reiterated call for restraint and de-escalation in the Gulf region.                  

In a statement, his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said the Secretary General urges respect of international law and restoration of navigational rights and freedoms in and around the Strait of Hormuz.                                               

The Secretary General has also called for making full use of diplomatic channels and resolving issues through dialogue and negotiations.
