NA passes MPs' salaries Amendment Bill 2025

The National Assembly today passed “The Members of Parliament (Salaries and Allowances) (Amendment) Bill, 2025.”

The bill is aimed at empowering Parliament so that its members may perform their functions effectively. It grants autonomy and independence to Parliament to decide the financial matters of their members.

The National Assembly session was held at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday with Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the chair.

Besides, six bills were introduced in the House.

These include “The Pakistan Environmental Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2025”, “ The Islamabad Capital Territory Compulsory Thalassemia Screening Bill, 2025”, “The Corporate Social Responsibility Bill, 2025”, “ The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2025”, “The Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2025” and “The Islamabad (Preservation of Landscape) (Amendment) Bill, 2025.”

The chair referred the bills to the Standing Committees concerned.

Meanwhile, Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, Parliamentary Secretary Maritime Affairs, Dr. Darshan informed that US funded programmes in Pakistan are intact and there is a pause of ninety days only.He further said the government of Pakistan will take alternate measures if the US Administration decides to close these programmes after the review of 90 days.Replying to another Calling Attention Notice, Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services, Nelson Azeem said the matter regarding the fees of medical colleges is being reviewed and there will be a substantial reduction in the fees to be announced soon.  The House will now meet tomorrow at two p.m.
