The amount of 190 million pounds, returned to Pakistan by the UK's National Crime Agency, will be utilized for the establishment of the Daanish University of Applied and Emerging Sciences, in Islamabad as per vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This was stated at a steering committee meeting of the Daanish University of Applied and Emerging Sciences held in Islamabad today (Tuesday) with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair.

It was stated the said amount of 190 million pounds has been transferred to the Federal Government's account through the Supreme Court.

The Prime Minister thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan for transferring 190 million pounds to the Federal Government.

He said the Daanish University will be an institution where deserving and capable students will be equipped with education based on high-level research.

The Prime Minister directed the completion of legal requirements for acquiring land for the university in Islamabad as soon as possible. He also instructed the swift finalization of the university's charter and other legal matters.

Shehbaz Sharif instructed to make the Daanish University an internationally standard technical and applied university. He said the university building should reflect simplicity and it should be constructed with red bricks, and no unnecessary expenses should be incurred to minimize costs.

The Prime Minister said the Daanish University will be equipped with all tools related to modern technology and advanced research, while its curriculum should be designed to meet modern and international standards.

The Prime Minister instructed the formation of a search committee for the appointment of the university's Vice-Chancellor and a committee for the nominations of the Board of Trustees.

The meeting was informed that the Prime Minister of Pakistan will be the patron of Daanish University. It was said all necessary formalities will be completed in next few days for the registration of the university.

The meeting was apprised that a piece of land in Sector H-16 has been selected for the university.

The affairs of Daanish University will be managed under the Daanish Trust to ensure financial autonomy and minimize government interference.

It was further told that the foundation stone for Daanish schools will soon be laid in Shigar, Gilgit, and Bagh.

Daanish schools will also be established in Neelum Valley in Azad Kashmir and underprivileged areas of Karachi.
