CDWP approves four development projects

The Central Development Working Party has approved four development projects of higher education and IT sector worth over 14 billion rupees.     

The approval was granted at a meeting of the CDWP in Islamabad on Friday with Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal in the chair.   

The approved projects include 'Establishment of Sub-Campus of Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad at Sharaqpur, Sheikhupura', 'Support for IT Startups, Specialized IT Trainings and Venture Capital (Revised)', 'Strengthening of Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform in IT' and 'National Semiconductor HR Development Program'.

The meeting also recommended six development projects worth 1.82 trillion rupees to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council for further consideration and final approval.

The projects referred to ECNEC include revised "Dasu Hydropower Project (Stage-I)", "Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project Phase-II", "Balochistan Water Security and Productivity Improvement Project- Improvement of Quetta Water Supply System and  "Flood Management of Kachhi Plains under Balochistan Water Security and Productivity Improvement Project " to enhance flood management, productive use of water and reclaiming additional cultivable land in Balochistan.        

The CDWP reiterated its commitment to fast-track development initiatives that are critical for national perspective and inclusive growth.
