Lt. Gen (R) Raza Muhammad Khan (Defence Analyst): Right now major challenges confronted by the world include climate change and Pakistan is also victim of climate challenge. Moreover, the world not assessing the intensity of its disaster accurately, however, the government of Pakistan is taking appropriate measures to counter challenge of climate change. In this regard, the government is utilizing all available resources. Another challenge is security of nations and we have seen the attitude of India which is acting like a regional hegemon. Unfortunately, India is undertaking state sponsored terrorism in Canada, US and other countries including Pakistan. Indian actions and state sponsored terrorism against Pakistan is a great threat to the security of the Sub Continent and the whole world. Another challenge emerging from India is its act of setting Indus Water Treaty in abeyance. Actually, India has designs to deny water to entire population of Pakistan. I think that it is a big challenge. The government of Pakistan is trying to mitigate the velocity of this challenge through fast construction of dams; however, it is responsibility of the world that India must be disallowed to violate an international pact between two sovereign states which took more than 185 days for signatures by two countries. Factually some countries at the United Nations follow policies as per their own needs and vested interests. Pakistan’s economy is on the right direction and all the economic indicators are showing upward trajectory. I think that we are in a position to protect our economic interests combined with security issues.
