Restrictions intensified in IIOJK ahead of India's Independence Day
August 12, 2026

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, occupying authorities have intensified restrictions, surveillance, and checking across the territory ahead of India’s Independence Day on August 15.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium, the main venue for India’s Independence Day function, has been placed under a multi-layered security grid, with Indian forces deployed around the stadium and adjoining areas.

Access routes leading to the venue have been subjected to heightened checking, while drones and CCTV cameras are being used for continuous surveillance.

Indian forces are brutally murdering Kashmiri youth for demanding their fundamental political and legal rights, including their birthright to a plebiscite and the right to self-determination as per the United Nations.

According to a report released by Kashmir Media Service on the occasion of International Youth Day, Kashmiri youth are being targeted, harassed, and arrested under the garb of cordon and search operations and house raids by Indian troops, paramilitary, and police personnel on a daily basis.

The report said Indian forces have intensified extrajudicial killings and fake encounters of Kashmiri youth since August 5, 2019, when the BJP-led Indian government repealed the special status under Articles 370 and 35A of IIOJK and imposed a military and police siege in the occupied territory.
