In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed grave concern over the prolonged detention and mistreatment of Kashmiri political detainees in different jails of India and the territory.
In a statement in Srinagar today, the APHC spokesman termed detentions under draconian laws as a systematic effort to suppress political struggle of Kashmiri people.
He highlighted the inhumane conditions endured by Kashmiri detainees, including overcrowded cells, isolation, denial of medical treatment, and indefinite confinement without due process.
The spokesman called on the international community to stand in solidarity with the Kashmiri detainees and their families.
Currently, thousands of Kashmiris, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, and Aasiya Andrabi, are languishing in jails.
Meanwhile, Indian troops launched massive cordon and search operations in Kupwara, Kishtwar and Bandipora districts today.
The operations are part of Modi regime's intimidating tactics to suppress the Kashmiri people.
In a related development, a young social activist from Doda was arrested under the draconian law, Public Safety Act, for raising voice over sanitation issues in the town.
Earlier, five trade union leaders from adjoining Kishtwar were slapped with Public Safety Act for showing concerns over the environmental degradation activities in the district.
