Director General of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Saeed Ahmad Shaikh, has called for united efforts from all sectors of society to work towards building a more sustainable and environmentally-secure future for Pakistan.
While extending heartfelt congratulations to Radio Pakistan's listeners worldwide on the occasion of World Radio Day, he expressed the confidence that, like in the past, Radio Pakistan will continue to play a pivotal role in raising awareness among masses about the impacts of climate change.
Highlighting Pakistan's vast geographical diversity, he pointed out that the Punjab region, in particular, is severely affected by the climate change, with melting glaciers causing devastating floods. He opined that these floods, in the past, wreaked havoc on the country's infrastructure.
The Director General mentioned that Radio Pakistan's stations nationwide have been actively broadcasting programs aimed at raising public awareness on critical environmental issues. These include tree plantation drives, the harmful effects of garbage burning, and the need to curb the spread of carbon emissions.
