Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Ambreen Jan, has lauded the significant role by Radio Pakistan in raising awareness among masses during natural calamities and on key national issues.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan, she said the national broadcaster has been airing programs in various regional languages to spread awareness about climate change threats, and the government's measures to address these threats effectively.
She opined that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Radio Pakistan launched the "Radio School" initiative to deliver vital messages and updates to the public, ensuring the information reached even the most remote areas of the country.
The Information Secretary said Radio Pakistan is also running a dedicated channel focused on environmental issues, expressing hope that the channel would be further developed to address contemporary-day challenges effectively.
When questioned about Radio Pakistan's adaptability to the evolving media landscape, Ambreen Jan acknowledged the growing importance of Radio Pakistan's social media platforms, which have played a pivotal role in the spread of accurate and credible news.
She said these platforms, with millions of followers, have proven to be valuable, credible and prompt sources of information gathering and news.
To another question, the Information Secretary said current Director General, Saeed Ahmed Shaikh, and his dedicated team at Radio Pakistan are focused on transitioning from traditional broadcasting methods to digital platforms. This strategic move aims to strengthen Radio Pakistan's connection with Pakistan's youth and to provide information in an effective and engaging manner.
Concluding her remarks, Ambreen Jan emphasized the need for continued collective efforts to improve Pakistan's environment, ensuring a cleaner, healthier future for generations to come.
