Saira lauds radio’s role in safeguarding country’s ideological boundaries

The Coordinator to the Chief Minister Punjab on Population Welfare, Saira Afzal Tarar, has emphasized the vital role of radio as an essential source of information and entertainment, particularly for reaching remote areas with news and educational content.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan’s Lahore correspondent, Zunaira Khalid, Saira Afzal Tarar highlighted the global observance of International Radio Day, and underscored the significance of radio as a unique and impactful medium.

She said that radio plays a crucial role in safeguarding the ideological boundaries of the country.

On the same occasion, the Director General of the Population Welfare Department, Saman Rai, remarked that despite the rise of digital media, radio's effectiveness has not waned. Instead, it has successfully adapted to modern technological advancements.

She further pointed out that radio continues to be a reliable and affordable source of information, especially in rural areas with limited internet access.

Emphasizing the enduring power of radio, Saira Afzal Tarar stated that the purpose of World Radio Day is to reinforce radio's role in society and continue its legacy.

In recognition of her contribution, the Coordinator to the Chief Minister presented a shield to Radio Pakistan’s correspondent Zunaira Khalid on behalf of Radio Pakistan in connection with World Radio Day.
