Dr. Muhammad Khan (IR Expert):Pakistan and several other countries have made numerous appeals to Houthis to avoid carrying out attacks on Saudi Arabia but unfortunately, Houthis attacks on Saudi Arabia are continuing. Under Makkah Agreement, Pakistan and Turkiye are playing due role in Saudi Defence. Both Pakistan and Turkiye are supposed to defend Saudi Arabia and same is the case with Saudi Arabia if any country attacks Pakistan and Turkiye. On a number of times, Pakistan has reiterated commitment to defend Saudi Arabia particularly Makkah and Madina. In this regard, today Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a meeting with first Secretary General of Makkah Defense Alliance retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood once again reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to protecting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security. For this purpose Pakistan has already military stationed in Saudi Arabia. Extent of role of Pakistan and Turkiye in defence of Saudi Arabia depends on the request of Saudi Arabia. Some foreign forces and powers want to drag both Pakistan and Turkiye in this wider regional conflict therefore Pakistan has to be cautious and careful in this regard. Pakistan has since ever been trying to bring peace in the war between Iran, US and Israel and brought them to a temporary ceasefire. Israel wants to expand Houthis, Saudi conflict over to entire region. Pakistan, Turkiye, Iran and other countries are trying to have peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Houthis. Therefore, I think that there may be a deal in near future as Tehran, Ankara and Riyadh have clarity of views on this issue. I may bring permanent peace in the Gulf region.
