Supreme Court has constituted a two member commission to finalize and submit a report on water scarcity in Balochistan within two weeks.
The order was passed in Islamabad on Friday by a three-member bench of Apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing a case about non-availability of drinking water in Bolan area of Balochistan.
The Commission will be headed by President Supreme Court Bar Association Amanullah Kanrani and Engineer Usman Babai will be its member.
The court ordered all relevant Provincial institutions including the Irrigation Department to extend full cooperation to the commission to complete its task within the stipulated time.
A video was also played in the court about the miserable water situation in Kachi Bolan area where the people were using brackish water.
The Deputy Commission Kachi Bolan verified the facts shown in the video saying that clean drinking water is not available in thirty kilometers belt in the area.
MNA Ramesh Kumar also appeared in the hearing on court order. He informed the bench that there is no development authority in Thar.
On this, the Chief Justice directed to establish Thar Development Authority for provision of better civic facilities to people of the area.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court has dismissed the review petitions in the removal of billboards case in Karachi.
A three-member bench of the Apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case in Islamabad on Friday.
The court ordered that all the billboards in Karachi including the cantonment boards be removed within three months.
The court also ordered that the verdict will be applicable in all the four provinces.
