Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, inaugurated the newly-constructed "Pakistan-Türkiye Friendship Museum" at Radio Pakistan Headquarters in Islamabad today.
Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Irfan Neziroglu, Secretary Information and Broadcasting Ambreen Jan, Director General Radio Pakistan Saeed Ahmed Shaikh, officers of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Radio Pakistan also attended the inaugural ceremony.
The museum, established in collaboration with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA), a subsidiary organization of the Ministry of Culture, Turkiye, reflects Radio Pakistan's role in nation building in the course of history.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, lauded Turkiye's cooperation in preserving and presenting Radio Pakistan's rich history in an impressive way.
Highlighting Radio Pakistan's role in national development, the Minister said Radio Pakistan significantly contributed to promotion of education, art and culture as well as for strengthening of economy through awareness programmes.
He said the national broadcaster always remained an effective mode of communication during natural calamities. He said Radio Pakistan's national songs during wars kept morale and spirit of the armed forces as well as the nation high.
Attaullah Tarar expressed the confidence that the museum will prove to be a milestone in further strengthening Pakistan-Turkiye relations.
He said the friendship between the two countries is deep-rooted as it is 'heart to heart' relationship.
Speaking on the occasion, Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu said the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TiKA) has completed nearly seven hundred projects in different sectors in Pakistan during the past fourteen years.
He said Pakistan and Turkiye enjoy cordial relations, which are based on people-to-people strong linkages. He expressed resolve of his government to further cement the brotherly relations between the two countries.
In his welcome remarks, Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Saeed Ahmed Shaikh thanked the Turkish government for its support in establishing the museum.
The museum, which gives a look of Seljuk Architecture, enlightens the visitors on the proud history of Radio Pakistan.
