Reforms being introduced in healthcare sector under "Uraan Pakistan"

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that reforms are being introduced in the healthcare sector under the "Uraan Pakistan" initiative.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore on Saturday, he said a three-year program has been launched to address the country's health challenges.

He said that sixty-seven billion rupees have been allocated for the treatment of hepatitis and diabetes in the current budget while eight billion rupees have been earmarked in the upcoming budget for the provision of cardiac stents.

The Minister said Pakistan has the highest number of hepatitis patients in the world.

He announced that the government will soon launch a project to raise awareness and help eliminate diseases.
