APHC Chairman expresses concern over incessant harassment of Kashmiri people in IIOJK
August 16, 2023

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt has expressed grave concern over the unabated random detentions and incessant harassment of the Kashmiri people during the widespread cordon and search operations before and after India’s Independence Day in disputed territory of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a massage from New Delhi’s Tihar jail, Masarrat Aalam Butt said by successfully observing the Black Day on August 15, the brave people of Jammu and Kashmir have frustrated the ulterior motive of around one million Indian occupation troops to break their spirit for freedom.

Masarrat Aalam Butt urged the United Nations to intervene to stop large-scale human rights violations by the Indian troops in the territory.

He said freedom from India is a matter of life and death for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The High Court of occupied Jammu and Kashmir has quashed illegal detention of five Kashmiri people booked under black law, Public Safety Act, and directed the authorities to release them immediately.

On the other hand, major capitals of the world reverberated with massive slogans against India and in favour of Jammu and Kashmir’s freedom from Indian illegal occupation in connection with India’s Independence Day.

Kashmiri diaspora and their sympathizers assembled outside the Indian High Commission in London, Indian consulate in Birmingham and Indian embassies in Copenhagen and Paris to remind the international community that the Kashmiris were living under a neo-colonial rule of the Indian state.

Speakers including Ranjit Singh, member of the World Sikh Parliament, on the occasion said, India's brazen criminality when it comes to international law, its forcible denial of self-determination and its use of genocide as a policy in suppressing other nations, is unparalleled in the modern era.

Kashmiri community leaders Fahim Kayani and Mirza Asif Jaral said India cannot befool international community by claiming to be a democratic country.

Meanwhile, APHC-AJK chapter Convener Mahmood Ahmed Saghar in a statement in Islamabad said thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth, Ulema, human rights defenders and journalists have been put in different jails of the occupied territory for their political beliefs.
