In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stressed that lasting peace; stability and economic growth in the region are unattainable without resolving the Kashmir dispute.

In an interview in Srinagar, Mirwaiz emphasized that the Kashmir conflict remains the major source of tension between Pakistan and India, and resolving it is crucial for improved relations.

Senior APHC leader criticized the BJP-led Indian government for attempting to erase Kashmiri identity, noting that the people of the occupied territory voiced their rejection of the BJP's illegal actions since August 2019 in the recent elections.

He pointed out that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A has further internationalized the Kashmir dispute, urging New Delhi to acknowledge the ground realities and engage in meaningful dialogue to resolve this long-standing conflict.

On the other hand, Omar Abdullah was sworn in as Chief Minister of IIOJK today, following the National Conference’s victory in the recently held sham elections.

This comes after the Modi regime dissolved the IIOJK assembly in 2018 and imposed President's Rule, culminating in the revocation of the territory's special status in August 2019.

National Conference leader Agha Ruhullah Mehdi has emphasized the urgent need for the Omar Abdullah-led administration to advocate for the restoration of rights taken from the people of IIOJK on August 5, 2019.

He stressed that alongside this fight, the new administration must focus on effective governance.
