The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has called on global human rights organizations to take immediate action for the release of illegally detained senior Hurriyat leadership, including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal in a statement highlighted the deplorable conditions faced by detainees in prisons across India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where they suffer from inadequate access to clean water, hygienic food and medical care.
Meanwhile, Kashmiri traders have threatened widespread protests against exploitative practices by the Delhi-run J&K Bank.
The traders associated with Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir in a statement in Srinagar said the bank is harassing borrowers, especially those from Micro, Small and medium enterprises by issuing eviction orders and auction notices.
The traders have planned peaceful demonstrations, including sit-ins and press conferences against the harassment.
