Pakistan, Bahrain to strengthen parliamentary relations

A high-level parliamentary delegation from Bahrain led by Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, visited the Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday.

Upon arrival at the Parliament House, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq warmly welcomed the delegation.

Later, the two sides discussed in detail the bilateral relations, trade opportunities and promoting parliamentary cooperation. Both the leaders agreed to further strengthen Pak-Bahrain parliamentary relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said Pakistan attaches great importance to its bilateral relations with Bahrain and increased parliamentary ties can play a significant role in bringing the two nations closer. He said the relations between Pakistan and Bahrain are based on religion, culture and historical values.

The Speaker said there are vast opportunities for promoting cooperation in economic, trade and other sectors between the two brotherly countries.

He said both the countries have similar positions on important regional and global issues and always supported each other's stands at regional and global forums.

In his remarks, Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Bahrain said his country wants to promote cooperation with Pakistan in parliamentary, trade, IT and various other fields.

He said the Bahraini Parliament will also provide all possible cooperation with the Pakistani Parliament in the IT sector.

Dr Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam stressed the need to further promote trade relations between Pakistan and Bahrain. He also thanked the Speaker National Assembly and his team for according a warm welcome to them in Pakistan.
