Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry says Pakistan wants to further enhance cooperation and coordination with Google for a safe and peaceful digital environment.

He was talking to a high-level delegation of Google led by Senior Director David Wheeler, which called on him in Islamabad today.

The meeting discussed in detail the digital security, effective use of social media against terrorism, timely check of online content and mutual cooperation.

In his remarks, Talal Chaudhry said Pakistan's geographical location is different from other countries and digital platforms will have to take into account the specific conditions of Pakistan. He said terrorists misuse social media to fan terrorism and spread fear.

The Minister of State for Interior said a proactive monitoring of social media is imperative under the special circumstances in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, the Senior Director of Google said they will keep on cooperating with the government for a safe digital environment in Pakistan,

The representative of Google Pakistan, Dr. Kyle Gardner, was also present on the occasion.

Members of the Social Media Protection and Regulation Authority M. Saad Ali, Salman Zafar, Director General of the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency Khurram Ali, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Malik Sanaullah were also present during the meeting.
