Imran Ali Chaudhry (Former Diplomat):  Pakistan has been main and primary mediator in Middle Eastern conflict so sideline meetings of Pakistani delegation with global leaders at 81st United Nations General Assembly session will be very crucial. Pakistani delegation will meet with Iranian, US and Gulf Countries leadership and try to tell them that peace is the best option according to framework document produced at Islamabad talks. So Pakistan will try to be a global peacemaker. However, success of Pakistan’s peacemaking efforts will depend on bilateral summit between Chinese and US Presidents on September 24 on the sidelines of UNGA session. However, at present memorandum of war has overtaken the memorandum of diplomacy as war drums have been beaten at vast level. Iran has sway over Ansarullah, but does not have total control over others groups. Iranian foreign minister held telephonic conversation with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and in think with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also today. I think that Pakistan will ask Iran to use its influence to defuse the escalation. However, willingness of Iran and Ansarullah matters a lot for peace. At present, global energy crisis is looming; however, positive development is that Hormuz is not blocked totally as some ships pass under US, Iranian and other’s security shelters. So Hormuz and Bab al Mandab are partially chocked. The world will be in a deep trouble if both shipping routes are totally chocked as Saudi and Iranian economies will be at a halt. I think that Kohat terrorist attack is very reprehensible. Terrorist group Hafiz Gul Bahadar has claimed responsibility of terrorist attack in Kohat. I think that Pakistan needs a consistent strict policy on terrorism and Pakistan needs not to announce strict action on terrorists inside Afghanistan.
