Dr. Abdullah Gul (Defence Analyst):As far as Pakistan’s stance on Makkah Agreement is concerned, Pakistan has a clear position. So Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has rightly said in an interview with Arab media that nature of Makkah Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye can’t be revealed. It is a normal practice because no country ever reveals details of defence agreements with other countries. Therefore, we have not seen any detail of ten-year defence agreement between India and the US. DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also cleared that Makkah Agreement is not for aggressive purpose and it is of defensive nature aimed to protect economic activities. So I think that we won’t need to get permission from anyone to respond to any attack on holy places in Saudi Arabia. We are all duty bound to protect our holy places. Presently Saudi Arabia is handling the situation in a befitting manner; however, we will play our due and forceful role whenever it is required. We stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will leave no stone unturned to safeguard and defend Saudi Arabia.
