A M Shahid (Former Diplmat):International Day of Peace is being observed across the world today; however, it is a matter of grave concern for the whole world that now India has started a hybrid war on Pakistan through Afghanistan. Both India and Afghanistan are sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan by supporting and financing terrorist groups like TTP, BLA and others. Instead of resolving Kashmir issue, India has started another misadventure of targeting Pakistan through terrorism. Indian actions and policies are resulting in turbulence in the region. So India must resolve Kashmir issue as per UN resolutions and Kashmiris’ aspirations. Similarly, Palestine issue must also be resolved as per aspirations of Palestinians. Unfortunately, the UN couldn’t resolve the long outstanding disputes of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. Even the UN is not in a position to describe the reasons before the world about is failure in resolving these disputes. Therefore, there is no peace in the world and world is confronting with uncertainty and turmoil. Factually, Kashmir dispute is on the UN agenda for over seven decades and it was India which took this issue to the UN. Then the UN passed resolutions that issue of Kashmir would be resolved through plebiscite according to the aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir. However, unfortunately that plebiscite has never happened so far. The UN failure in resolution of disputes is causing regional turbulences and clashes like May 2025 clash between Pakistan and India. Factually, there are so many reasons behind the global turmoil and unrest; however, main reason is the world order, UN system, and disrespect for human rights and international order, which was created in 1945. Unfortunately, with the arrival of US President Donald Trump in power, the world order has been broken. At present there is no super power in the world as economic and military power of the US has also declined. Apart from the US, other major countries and blocs like P5 UN members, EU, China, Russia and others have also stopped respecting the international order. This is why; there are so many conflicts in the world at present.
