Analysts hail govt’s efforts to boost national economy

Hamayun Iqbal Shami (Economist): The government is taking good steps to boost national economy.Consistency and continuity of economic policies is imperative for sustainable economic growth. Investors consider continuity of economic policies basic criteria before going for any investment. The government must look into the issue that some sectors are still lying out of tax net and try to bring those sectors into the tax net to increase tax collection.  It is good development that the government has announced to ensure tax collection from agricultural sector, however, the government needs to give tangible statistics and figures about tax collection from agricultural sector. It is premature to comment on the possible volume of tax collection from agriculture sector.

Dr. Usman Chohan (Economist):The government is making good and result oriented efforts to streamline the economy. In this regard, the government is working on structural reforms in the state owned entities which will be completed by the mid of current year. These structural reforms will definitely ensure economic development in the country. The federal government needs to have close coordination with provinces on the issue of revenue or tax collection. It is not appropriate practice to give a blank cheque to provinces on revenue generation and tax collection.
