Celebrations of death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh begin

Three-day celebrations of the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh have started at Gurdwara Siri Punja Sahib Hassanabdal.

A large number of Sikh Yatrees including 284 Indian Sikhs are participating in the celebrations. The Indian Sikhs arrived last night by a special train through Wahga border. 

During their three days stay at the Gurdwara the Sikh pilgrims will perform different rituals.

Talking to Radio Pakistan's Attock correspondent, Secretary Shrines Imran Gondal said all facilities have been provided to the pilgrims including foolproof security.

Delegation Leader of Indian Sikhs, Ballinder Singh thanked the government of Pakistan for making good arrangements for them.

He also appreciated the government for giving them religious freedom, providing security and keeping their sacred worship places in better condition.

He said that the people of Pakistan and specially of Hassanabdal are loving and caring.

The issuance of pilgrimage visas is in line with the Government of Pakistan’s efforts for promoting visits to religious shrines and people-to-people interactions.

It also reflects the commitment of the Government of Pakistan to faithfully implement the bilateral Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines.

The Government of Pakistan remains committed to preserving sacred religious places and providing all possible facilitation for the visiting pilgrims of all faiths.
