Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that his country is prepared to take military steps in response to unfriendly actions by the West over Ukraine conflict.

During his first call with new German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, he called for serious negotiations on Russian security demands put to the United States and NATO.

Putin said Russia will react toughly to unfriendly steps by the West and it has every right to do so.
