Indian troops have intensified frisking in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in name of so-called security measures ahead of India's Republic Day.

Forces’ personnel, comprising Indian army, paramilitary, and police forces, are conducting thorough checks on vehicles, commuters and pedestrians entering the cities of Srinagar and Jammu.

Surprise inspections at checkpoints have become routine, causing disruptions to the daily lives of residents while government employees and schools have also been directed to participate in the Republic Day functions.

Senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah, currently detained in Tihar jail, has urged the people of Kashmir to mark Indian Republic Day as a Black Day on Friday.

In a message from Jail, the APHC leader said, this symbolic observance aims to highlight Kashmiris' perceived denial of the UN-acknowledged right to self-determination by India.

On the other hand, on the occasion of the International Day of Education, a report by the Kashmir Media Service underscores the challenges faced by the people of occupied Kashmir in accessing education.

It said the prolonged conflict and Indian restrictions have significantly impacted the right to education, with Kashmiri students facing harassment and humiliation by the troops.

The report said the closure of educational institutions since August 5, 2019, coupled with frequent military operations, raids and restrictions, has disrupted the educational landscape in the region.
