Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad has called for embracing the lessons and values of Pakistan's founding fathers.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with Pakistan Day at Pakistani Mission in New York, he paid special tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies for their sacrifices, which they continue to make daily in the line of duty.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire for peaceful and friendly relations with its neighbours.

He said, however the grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir cannot be ignored.

He said it is Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic responsibility to support Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and vowed to continue advocating for their inalienable rights.

Asim Iftikhar said that Pakistan's support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination also remains absolute.
