Analysts say disruptive politics of PTI will harm the country’s interests
May 25, 2022

Salman Ghani (Senior Analyst): All the political parties have the right to protest or hold long-march peacefully, but this does not mean they can be given free hand to create anarchy. No one is above the law and constitution of the country. The PTI workers should ensure a peaceful protest, so that lives and properties of people are not damaged in the capital. The Supreme Court has directed the government to hold dialogue with PTI leaders to settle the issue. Whether it is the matter of election or any national issue, the democracy demands to hold dialogue to find amicable solutions.

Khurram Dastagir (Federal Minister): Currently, Pakistan's biggest concern is to renew agreement with the IMF and the conviction of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik. The government has vociferously stated that there will be no reconciliation with the PTI. Freedom of expression is the constitutional and democratic right of every citizen, but no one can be allowed to create anarchy. It is our unflinching resolve that we will defend the constitutional government and life and property of people at all costs. In 2014, the PTI had staged a disruptive 126-day long sit-in in the federal capital, during which its workers led by Imran Khan ransacked Parliament & PTV buildings. The PTI leader also instigated the public for civil disobedience. Now, the PTI leadership is hurling the same threats to achieve their ulterior motives.

Akbar S. Babar (Politician): The economy of the country can be badly affected by this anarchic political situation. We might go bankrupt like Sri Lanka and lose foreign investment in the country, if same situation persists. Therefore, all the government institutions have to play their role to put a halt on this fascist political movement to let the country's economy grow. The law enforcing agencies by standing firm to their duties have rightfully stopped the PTI's hideous intentions.

Shameem Shawl (Hurriyat Leader): The world should take note of India's fake democracy as they have shown their real face by convicting Yasin Malik in a fabricated case. We will go to the International Court of Justice and demand the release of our great leader. The only crime of Yasin Malik was to raise voice for the Kashmiri people against the atrocities by the Indian security forces in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
