Several media watchdogs have condemned the Indian government’s decision to ban a BBC documentary critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The journalists organizations all over the world have criticised the use of emergency powers to prevent clips from being accessed or shared online in India.
International Press Institute expressed its alarm regarding authorities invoking emergency laws to block the documentary.
Similarly, another press society, Committee to Protect Journalists said ordering social media platforms to block the documentary constitutes “an attack on the free press”.
