A three-day summit of Group of Seven countries has started in Germany.

The summit takes place against a darker backdrop after soaring global energy and food prices are hitting economic growth in the wake of war in Ukraine.

The agenda of the summit in Munich includes Russia's war on Ukraine, climate change, energy and a looming food security crisis.

Strict security measures are in place and at least 18,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure that no demonstration can disturb proceeding of the summit.

Meanwhile, nearly four thousand protesters have arrived in Munich to protest against the policies of seven leading economic powers.

The organizers of the protests have been demanding a phase-out of fossil fuels, the preservation of biodiversity, health, social justice and greater efforts to combat hunger.
