The eighteenth death anniversary of poet Munir Niazi was observed on Thursday. 

Known for his melodious ghazals Munir Niazi also penned songs for films.

Some of his Urdu collections include “Taiz Hawa aur Tanha Phool”, “Jungle main Dhanak” and “Mah-e-Munir”.

In recognition of his literary prowess, Munir Niazi was bestowed with the President’s Award for Pride of Performance in 1992 and Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 1998.

He passed away on this day in 2006 after suffering from a respiratory disease.
